The Stadium Experience:

Morgantown, WV - Mountaineerland. Pat White was one of my favorite college quarterbacks a few years ago, and I was sad to see his struggles in the NFL. I, also, wondered whether WVU feels they made the right move by abandoning the Big East a few years back as they struggle to settle into the Big 12. This came to mind as we drove from our resort to the stadium a few short miles away. Parking wasn't difficult, but I did notice that many fans parked along the roadside of the main road leading to the stadium and then took the long schlep to the stadium. On a warm September afternoon without my wife's bad legs that MIGHT have been an option. In the cold with her having to walk up many a hill for quite a distance no EFFIN' way! :) I got you, Tak Tak. We found a nice convenient spot next to someone's trailer for $30, which was across from the stadium. I have to give ease of parking, price, and proximity a 7. It was a wee bit expensive... Uh, pre-game anyone? There was ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! I was stunned. I heard that it might be because of the Thanksgiving weekend, but that didn't stop Pitt, Colorado, or Wyoming from putting on a show. I hope that is the case, because only private tailgates aren't for the traveler. Fanfare gets a 1, because it couldn't get any worse. Completely disgusted we went to our seats ready for a football game. I don't travel for a football game! I've seen hundreds of those! I want the experience! Well, WVU made up for a LOT by the energy flowing off of their fans. I mean WOW! They rocked to every first down, cheered every solid play, screamed defense, and were jazzed. The band was fantastic! I found them so amazing that I tweeted them during their opening act that I was waiting for halftime. The fan experience nets a solid 9. Concessions were quite reasonable - 8. Views from the stadium? Well, it's Morgantown, WV and there ain't much to see. West Virginia as a whole is quite beautiful, and the stadium isn't on campus; so, it gets an average 5. This visit gets a 30, and it really was better than average. So much so that I HAVE to make another trip and soon. Take me home country roads...
