The Stadium Experience:

Bowling Green, OH - Sometimes I look up at the highway signs and say what the heck are we doing here. That happened as we drove to the Doyt. It was the same feeling as I drove into Moscow, Idaho last year. I remembered that time at the "Breadbox" fondly when we parked. We decided to grab some lunch prior to seeing all the stuff on campus. We met Scott Swan, a former linebacker for the Wisconsin Badgers, whose son plays linebacker for these Falcons. He promised us a chance to take some pictures with his son after the game. Unfortunately, Mrs. Johnson got tired, and we ended up leaving in the middle of the 3rd. I would really have loved that shot. S happens. Our first stop was a photo op with Freddie Falcon. Thank you Michael J. Ginsburg, Associate Dean of Students, for making that happen! Then we dashed off to the basketball arena for the band's pregame warmup, which was a practice and preview of their halftime show. Sweeeet! I really enjoyed the show and the march on. The fanfare nets a nice 9. Our seats were near the student section, which made for an interesting and wild time. My wife loves the antics, chants, and energy that comes from the students. We may try to find seats near them every game now. The students stand the entire game except for halftime. They were loud, into the game, and pleasant to be around. The fans as a whole were all very nice, pleasant, and fun. This fan experience rates a 9. Well, there aint much to see in Bowling Green, and being at a night game didn't help it much. Standard non-judgemental 5 on views and aesthetics. Concessions were reasonable even if the selection was common. Not a knock, but not a wower either - 5. I have come to the conclusion that parking will always be around $25. SO, at $20 I felt I got a bargain. . I give that a 6, because of its proximity to the stadium. Doyt Perry Stadium was a great experience, and it could have been better had we stayed to the end of the game. If the Falcons are in town when I return to the area to see Toledo or Akron, then you better believe we will make a stop! A solid 34 of a visit. East Lansing, MI tomorrow night.
